It is hard to believe that the hot steamy days of summer are behind us and that our chapter is already off to a great start. Education series dates for the year are in place…a save the date for EduCon has arrived on your desk, and our committees are up and running, but always looking for more volunteers.
Before we get in to our fall routine, I invite you stop and take a moment to look back on the summer and ask yourself the following questions…
Did you take any time off to be with your family and friends?
Did you sweat it out at a Cardinal’s game or at the Muny?
Did you take a road trip or enjoy a picnic at the wineries?
With our busy lives, it is so important for each and every one of us to have the correct balance between work and home! That does not mean you work 75% of the time and play only 25%.
A few years ago my boss, Maureen, told me that I needed to learn how to balance my work life with my personal life. I decided that I was going to take more vacations, take Friday’s off during the summer months, and join a gym. It has been life-changing for me, but I have to say that I am fortunate that I have realized before it was too late that there was more to life than work!
So now it is your turn. Can you change your life balance?
Just a few weeks ago I, along with over 30 of our chapter members, attended MPI WEC Las Vegas. What an experience with lots of great learning and networking. I have to say the highlight was the Chapter Reception at Rum Jungle. It was great to see members who have been active in the chapter for awhile. We got to catch up, and a few of them have promised to get involved on committees and help us to meet our goals!
The opening General Session speaker, Dr. Patrick Dixon, spoke of the future and what it has in store for us. What an influential gentleman! Dr. Dixon was recently ranked by Thinkers 50 as one of the 20 most influential business leaders alive today, and described in the media as Europe’s Leading Futurist. During his keynote he provided us with the vision and tools you need to take charge of your future. His dynamic multimedia presentation is more than a speech; it’s a life-changing experience.
As I close out this newsletter, I remind you to think about the future and what it has in mind for us but also to stop and think about how you are going to change how you live life today!
